The Indian cricket team romped to an innings victory against Sri Lanka today, inspired by Ravindra Jadeja’s all round performance but India’s victory celebrations have been cut short, as Ravindra Jadeja has been handed a one match ban by the ICC for a breach of conduct in the second test.

Jadeja will now be unavailable to play the 3rd test in Pallakele.

R Jadeja suspended for Pallekele Test after his accumulated demerit points reached six within a 24-month period following his latest breach,” ICC said in a statement.

Jadeja deliberately threw the ball at a third person in the 2nd test and that has been cited as the reason for his suspension.

“During 3rd day’s play, Jadeja found guilty of breaching code of conduct relating to throwing ball at or near any 3rd person inappropriately,” the release said.

Jadeja’s abscence will hurt India big time but it will open the door for Kuldeep Yadav, who has for long now waited for an opportunity.

A test series in Sri Lanka was going to be a platform for Virat Kohli to unleash three spinners on the opposition, but for some strange reason they have gone in with Hardik Pandya, citing ‘team balance’ as the reason.

Kuldeep should enjoy bowling on the square turning Sri Lankan wickets, as his wrist spin will be able to extract bounce and turn, a lethal combination to say the least.

The BCCI are yet to respond to this ban and with the series already sealed, it looks highly unlikely that they will be appealing against it.
