Rohit Sharma might be recalled for Australia Tests

Rohit Sharma might be recalled for Australia Tests: There have been reports of Rohit Sharma making a comeback in the Indian Test team.

During a press conference ahead of the Asia Cup, stand-in Indian captain Rohit Sharma had expressed his views on no player likes to get dropped and then recalled and so on. Sharma was referring to India’s unsettled middle-order and the probable candidates who had been picked in the squad back then.

One of the probable reasons as to why Sharma felt so concerned about the continuous chopping and changing was he himself had gone through the same. He still is. After starting ahead of vice-captain Ajinkya Rahane in South Africa earlier this year, Sharma was again left out of the side against Afghanistan and England.

Having scored 317 runs in five matches at an average of 105.66 and a strike rate rate of 93.51 and leading India to an Asia Cup title, Sharma would have expected his name to feature in the Test side. However, that wasn’t the case.

It is ironical how the 31-year old right-hand batsman has fared across formats. That being said, if reports in Mumbai Mirror are to be believed, Sharma might be included in the Test team which will tour Australia later this year. It is said that Sharma’s ability to play attacking shots against the rising ball is likely to work in his favour.

Only time will tell whether these reports will see the daylight or not. If they do, Sharma will once again be included in the side and will once again be playing for his place in the Test side.

If it happens, who will Sharma replace in the middle-order also remains a major question. In the 25 Test matches which Sharma has played, he has scored 1,479 runs at an average of 39.97 and a strike rate of 55.14.

Many cricket experts and fans have advocated for Sharma being selected in the Test squad on social media platform Twitter. Read some of the reactions below:
