Salah is most likely to play in Egypt’s first match against Uruguay.

Portugal’s star forward Cristiano Ronaldo has finally opened up on the Ballon d’Or debate regarding Mohamed Salah. Ronaldo believes that Salah is a worthy contender of the prestigious individual award.

The Egyptian forward has been a revelation this season for Liverpool, as he scored 44 goals this season for the Reds. He also beat Ronaldo’s record to score most goals in a single Premier League season.

Salah’s season ended on a disastrous note, as he was injured during the Champions League final. The injury almost made his presence for Egypt a doubt for the world cup, but Salah has seemingly recovered well to appear in their first game against Uruguay.

Ronaldo insisted that Salah has been impressive for Liverpool. “Mo Salah has been one of the revelations of the year,” Ronaldo said. “I hope his injury in the final in Kiev doesn’t keep him out,” the Portuguese forward added.

Ronaldo then spoke about his chances at winning the Ballon d’Or this year. “Many people talk about the Cristiano Ronaldo-Messi battle but there are other players who have chances to enter the race (for Ballon d’Or). The Egyptian is one of them,” said Cristiano.

Ronaldo and Messi have been winning the Ballon d’Or trophy for over a decade. Ronaldo won his first Ballon d’Or with Manchester United in 2008, and the rest at Real Madrid.

Both, Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi will aim for world cup glory this summer in Russia, when they lead Portugal and Argentina respectively. This world cup could most probably be the last for both of them, at least in their prime.

Meanwhile, Ronaldo and Salah could meet each other in the world cup Round-of-16 match, as Egypt and Portugal are in Group A and B respectively.
