Solskjaer on Pochettino: The Manchester United manager talked about the speculations surrounding the club’s permanent manager.

Manchester United will be taking on Tottenham Hotspur at Wembley Stadium this weekend. The side are on a five-match winning run under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

With a win, United will reduce the gap with Tottenham to seven points in the Premier League table.

While Manchester United have improved tremendously under Solskjaer, the club is undergoing a process to appoint a permanent manager at the end of the season.

Various reports have suggested that Mauricio Pochettino is among the favourites to join Manchester United, even when the Tottenham manager signed a new contract only last summer. Solksjaer is among the latest to entertain the possibility of his appointment.

Solskjaer on Pochettino:

The Manchester United interim manager has stated that Pochettino has done a good job at Tottenham, and there is a reason behind the speculations.

“He has done a very good job,

That speculation is there for a reason because he has done well.

Solskjaer also praised Tottenham, stating that they are a ‘top side,’ but insisted that Manchester United will also play to its strengths.

“You get tested every single game in the Premier League – no doubt about it – but of course this is against a top, top side.

“If we want to get closer to them and go past them we need a good performance and a good result. You always adapt to any opposition. We play one of the best teams in the league. Of course we have got to be aware of their strengths.”

Solskjaer, in his limited period of time at the club, has associated himself with an attacking style of football. However, he admitted that his side will get lesser chances to attack against Tottenham this weekend.

“I have been brought in a way that we need to attack teams. That is our strength, going forward, both as a team when you look at us now with the way we have played.

“We will not get as many chances to attack against [Spurs] as we have had before so we have got to be ready for when we get hold of the ball, to play well with it and make sure we use the whole pitch because Wembley is a decent-sized pitch as well.”
