Solskjaer on United's dressing room

Solskjaer on United’s dressing room: The Manchester United manager talked about the club’s dressing room and how he intends to work with the players.

Manchester United appointed the former club star for the interim role after the departure of Jose Mourinho earlier this week. The Portuguese left the side two days after United lost 3-1 to Liverpool.

Solskjaer has worked with Manchester United’s youth team in past, where he coached Paul Pogba, among other United youngsters.

He started his managerial career with Norwegian club Molde, and came to Premier League as head coach for Cardiff. He returned to Molde after a disappointing season.

Solskjaer interacted with the media for his first conference as the Manchester United manager, ahead of the game against Cardiff City. He pressed upon various issues (including finishing in the top-4)during the media interaction, and also talked about man-management inside the United’s dressing room.

Solskjaer on United’s dressing room:

The Norwegian insisted that he wants the players to express themselves, and build the mentality in the training grounds and through his philosophy.

“It’s about getting very player to the best, speaking to them, training ground, philosophy, principles, how we wanna play,” Solskjaer said.

“You play with courage, go out there and express your skills, he [Sir Alex] said go out and express, take risks. The last game he had as a manager 5-5, that was almost the perfect end to him as a manager and I want the player to be similar,” the Norwegian insisted.

He also revealed that he has been in contact with Manchester United’s former manager, Sir Alex Ferguson. Solskjaer has played under the Scottish manager throughout his playing career at the club.

“He’s (Sir Alex) influenced me with everything. I’ve already been in touch with him, there’s no one to get better advice from.”

He also urged the players to ‘be the kids that love to play football,’ signifying that they should play bravely.

“These are quality players. You play without fear, with courage. You go out there and express your skills. Take risks. I want the players to be the kids that love to play football and go out in front of the best fans in the world.”

The quotes come across as a good news for Manchester United players, Paul Pogba in particular, who faced a fall-out in the relationship with Mourinho after differences over playing styles.

Pogba also criticised the manager’s philosophy in a mixed-zone interview this season.
