Chelsea and Real Madrid will be facing off in the semi-finals of the Champions League on Tuesday

The fact that Chelsea have been on an exceptional bit of recovery ever since Thomas Tuchel has been handed over charge of the club is public news. From languishing in the deaths of the Premier League to currently challenging Real Madrid in the semi-finals of the Champions League, the club based out of London has completely overhaul its underachieving form.

Defeating Porto in the bygone round of the marquee tournament, Chelsea assured themselves of a spot in today’s forthcoming affair. However, the side has been quick to appreciate that Real Madrid is a completely different entity as compared to Porto.

Mendy Aware Of Real Madrid Threat

Chelsea’s goal-keeper, Edouard Mendy spoke about Real Madrid and the stature of the La Liga side. However, while the Chelsea shot stopper was appreciative of Real Madrid’s calibre he was quick to highlight the confidence coursing through the Chelsea ranks at the moment.

“It is Real Madrid and in their favour, they have a real shared history, they have won lots of titles together,” Mendy said.

“They have experience on their side. But us, we have built this trust, we have really had results with the philosophy of the coach, so we are going to rely on this to take this final step.

“We will go there with a lot of energy and desire.”

Mendy raked up yet another cleansheet at the weekend as he helped Chelsea to a 1-0 win against West Ham. The triumph was a massive shot in the arm to the club’s top 4 aspirations with the side assuring itself of fourth position at the moment.

Elsewhere, Real Madrid suffered a massive setback in their fight for the LA Liga trophy. The side’s winless result saw it fail to erase the deficit between itself and table toppers Atletico Madrid.

Real Madrid will meanwhile be looking to emulate their performance against Liverpool in the quarter-finals of the Champions League come today.
