Timo Werner Chelsea: Where will the German International play for Chelsea amidst competition with Tammy Abraham; Frank Lampard confirms.
Chelsea successfully completed the transfer of Timo Werner to Chelsea, with him beginning his tenure at the London based club from next season onwards.
When Werner was signed by Chelsea, the main concern was what lies for Tammy Abraham now, who had a successful debut season with the club with many impactful performances especially before the suspension of all football activities.
Following reports suggested that either Werner will play on the left-wing or the duo will play in a two-man setup ahead. To bust the first point, Bild’s Christian Falk has reported that Lampard will not play Werner on the wings.
Christian Falk on Byline Podcast “Frank Lampard has told Timo Werner that he will play as a striker for Chelsea, not on the left-wing.” Thus, Werner in all probability will start as a striker.
On the other hand, the possibilities of a two-striker formation are slim, as the present game-style in the Premier League doesn’t suit it, and the current world football is over that phase and the idea itself has its own creative limitations.
What lies in Tammy Abraham’s future?
Sadly for Abraham, Werner is definitely the superior player and will probably displace the English striker. Thus, Abraham will have to accept the inferior role in the club along with Oliver Giroud.

This summer seems unlikely but Abraham will eventually make a move away from Chelsea to have more playing time, otherwise, if Lampard does an efficient rotation, Abraham might extend his stay.
