The London based club decided to relieve the Portuguese of his duties
For quite some time now, Jose Mourinho’s departure from Tottenham has been impending. The air engulfing the club was emoting towards the London based club parting company with the Portuguese.
The side’s bygone 2-2 Everton draw was the final straw for Tottenham with the club finally deciding they had seen enough of Mourinho. Tottenham through a statement released on Monday asserted that the club would be relieving Mourinho of his duties as Tottenham manager.
Levy Issues Statement After Mourinho Sack
“Jose and his coaching staff have been with us through some of our most challenging times as a Club. Jose is a true professional who showed enormous resilience during the pandemic. On a personal level I have enjoyed working with him and regret that things have not worked out as we both had envisaged. He will always be welcome here and we should like to thank him and his coaching staff for their contribution, the club’s chairman Daniel Levy said.
The move was welcomed with open arms by a magnitude of Tottenham supporters who had been running out of patience with the coach for quite some time. Mourinho was growing increasingly out of favour not only due to his coaching methods but also his deranged comments where he was too willing to throw his side’s players under the mat.
Southampton’s Ralph Hasenhuttl was meanwhile less welcoming of the move as he branded Mourinho as one of the most decorated managers in the game.
“He didn’t have a very good year, they’re below what they tried to achieve they had injuries like us and they dropped back,” Ralph said.
“This happens in football and when you’re not successful you’re under pressure.”
Chelsea’s Thomas Tuchel was asked to opine of the move as well with the Chelsea coach going onto say, “Always a little bit surprised [when a manager is sacked]. We are all competitors and try to beat each other but in the end we hope a manager is in a good place to work. So when it happens, it never feels good as a manager.”
