Rohit Sharma has been scrutinised to the core on this tour. After a poor Test series, wherein his spot was questioned every time he stepped onto the crease, or every time the camera brought Ajinkya Rahane into focus.

The ODI series came soon enough for Rohit, but Rabada had his number on multiple occasions, and thus Rohit was scrutinised even further, as he was failing to excel at his own game.
But today was different. After 4 rather drab failures, Rohit was determined to ‘pitch in’ in the all important 5th ODI, and pitch in he did.
He brought up his 17th ODI century in ODI cricket, scoring his 15th as an opener, and in the process answered his critics in emphatic fashion.
So much talk about Rohit’s performance in overseas conditions, and he comes up with an inspired performance on a challenging Port Elizabeth surface which had a little in it for the seamers initially and has gotten slower and sluggish ever since.
Twitter came out in support of Rohit Sharma, albeit a few trolls.
