During the second day of the first Test of the ongoing series between India and West Indies at Rajkot, Indian all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja scored his 10th Test half-century. Coming in to bat ahead of Ravichandran Ashwin at No. 7, Jadeja once again proved the fact that he can steer India’s lower order alongside him.
Jadeja came in to bat in the 109th over after Rishabh Pant got out to Devendra Bishoo after playing a quickfire knock. Jadeja started his innings with Kohli at the other end as the duo was involved in a 64-run stand for the sixth wicket.
Just a couple of deliveries before Kohli got out on 139, Jadeja had scored his first four of the day. Jadeja took the onus on him after Kohli went back to the pavilion, playing a sensible brand of cricket alongside Kuldeep Yadav and Umesh Yadav.
Having made his Test comeback in the last Test of the England series at The Oval, Jadeja has enjoyed a fruitful ODI comeback along with scoring consecutive Test match half-centuries. If Jadeja manages to stay consistent on this road of all-round performance, you never know if he might pin down Ashwin for the spot of one spinner in the Tests down under.
On the fourth delivery of the 150th over, Jadeja completed his century with a quick single off Kraigg Brathwaite, bringing out the archetype sword celebration in front of his home crowd. Jadeja’s celebration portrayed as to how important this innings was and what it meant to him.
