Former UFC Middleweight Champion Luke Rockhold, who in November last year emphasized upon hanging up his gloves, has now decided to push retirement for the time, and wants to compete again in 2020 itself.
After incurring a loss at UFC 239, against Jan Blachowicz in July 2019, Luke Rockhold thought to have unceremoniously disappeared from the sport. However, a fresh update related to the fighter reveals that he has quashed the idea of retirement, and wants to set foot in the Octagon again.
In November 2019, Rockhold described about his loss of hunger to fight, yet in April of this year he also brought into notice that he is bound to fight multiple times under the present UFC contract. And now according to ESPN, The new addition to this short timeline is that the Skywalker hopes to make a comeback later this year.
Luke Rockhold is a former UFC and Strikeforce Middleweight champion, and has an incredible MMA record of 16-5 to his name. He has suffered 5 knockouts in his career and has inflicted 6 as well. The 35-year-old has fought in the middleweight division in the entirety of his career, and will reportedly fight again in the same weight class.
Luke Rockhold wants to Challenge Chris Weidman
Luke Rockhold has apparently also picked his opponent for the comeback fight. The fighter wants to challenge Chris Weidman, who is fresh from his victory over Omari Akhmedov, at UFC Vegas 6. Weidman does not have any fight scheduled as of now, and would be on the lookout for a new challenge.
The encounter may or may not take place is a matter which will be discussed in the future, but the current state is that Rockhold is undergoing recovery from a shoulder injury, and would take another month to fully recuperate.
