KL Rahul, who came out to bat at number three on the first day of the first Test between India and Afghanistan, received a heart-warming tweet from former Indian opener Virender Sehwag.

It was historic day in cricket history as Afghanistan became the 12th team to play a Test match. As the two teams locked horns at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore, India won the toss and decided to bat first.

The openers Shikhar Dhawan (107) and Murali Vijay (105) got the team off to a great start. They were cautious first up but once the ball lost its shine, Dhawan in particular went after the bowlers to score a quick-fire century. Vijay followed suit and also scored a free flowing ton.

After the fall of Dhawan’s wicket, fans were surprised to see KL Rahul come out to bat at Number 3. Actually, it is Cheteshwar Pujara who generally comes out to bat one down. Despite the absence of Virat Kohli, people were expecting Pujara to bat at his usual position. However, Ajinkya Rahane and the team management decided otherwise and sent in KL Rahul to bat at Number 3.

This invoked memories for Virender Sehwag who took to Twitter to express his happiness. Sehwag said that we’ve got to see another Rahul come out to bat at number three after a long time.

Sehwag is famous for his sense of humour. Of late, he has owned Twitter with his funny one liners and this was another one from his large repertoire.

The tweet may have been posted in zest but actually two ‘Rahuls’ have a lot in common between them. Both belong to Karnataka and have a solid technique. While Rahul Dravid has already had an illustrious career and is one of the greatest Indian batsmen, KL Rahul has a lot of talent and promises to walk on the senior Rahul’s footsteps.
