Kemba Walker reveals Michael Jordan's special advice

Kemba Walker is one of the most blessed players in the NBA currently, as in his prime, he has the chance to play for a team that is owned by Michael Jordan.

Now, Kemba Walker, who has been a two time All-Star point guard, will be a free agent come July and would be one of the most high profile buy, if he decides not to re-sign with the Hornets.

“I want to enjoy that process I guess, and just wait for it over the summer,” Walker said in an interview with ESPN.

Talking about his free agency and how he is going to approach it, Walker said that he doesn’t quite know what he will tell the GOAT when they sit down for discussions sometime in the next few months.

“I don’t know what I’m going to say to the GOAT,” Walker said.

“We’re going to see.” he added.

Walker was drafted in by the Hornets before the 2011-12 season and has been in Charlotte ever since.

He then went onto speak about how Michael Jordan helped him on during the initial stages of his career and also revealed the best advice given to him by Jordan where in he asked him ‘just to be himself’. He emphasised on the fact that Jordan loved to spend time with the team and offer them crucial advises during different stages of the season.

“I’ve needed that a few times over the course of my career,” Walker said.

“So yeah, especially early on in my career, when I first came in trying not to step on anybody’s toes, things like that. [Jordan] brought me to the side. He was like ‘We drafted you for a reason. Just come in and be yourself.'” he added.

Walker is desperate to get picked in the All-Star team for the third time and is looking forward to it.

“I’m excited,” Walker said.

“I’m excited. I’m going to try to get back to that game.” he added.

Walker was pretty candid about how he felt when he for the first time heard trade rumours about himself.

“At first it was pretty tough,” Walker said.

“Just because I’ve never been involved in trade talks. So to hear it, I think I first heard about it through social media. So from that point on I was pretty upset. But you can only control what you can control.

“And if they wanted to get rid of me, I guess they would have. And they didn’t. And you know, I just tried my best to finish that season out. And then during the summer I just locked in.” he added.
