The Lankan tail is reeling at the crease finding ways to save the Test match from getting drubbed at the hands of the mighty Indians. On the contrary, Indians are not leaving this. They are pressing constantly to fight out for a result rather than a dull draw.

Sri Lanka have also shown constant resistance ever since they came in to bat in the second innings. The chase is on, with Dickwella and Roshen Silva settled at the crease, but a Sri Lankan win looks highly unlikely.

Post the lunch session, Ravichandran Ashwin bowled an absolute peach of a delivery to outsmart Dinesh Chandimal.  The Lankan Test skipper had the urge to go for a big shot off Ashwin’s bowling, as he shimmied down the track in an attempt to reap for something big. But Ashwin deceived him in the air, and with ball sneaking between bat and pad and castling into the stumps to send Chandimal back.

After India got the big fish Angelo Mathews in the opening session of the final day, the pressure mounted on the Lankans with emphasis on saving the Test. Earlier in the day, Chandimal had caught a lucky break, when he received a rip snorter from Jaddu that beat him all ends up, only to be called back by the umpires, as Jaddu had overstepped.

However, that did not  blemish the mood of the Indians as Ravi Ashwin came in and provided a desperate breakthrough to send Chandimal back to the dressing room.
