Rohit Sharma has been heavily scrutinised this series for his poor form at the top of the order, with Rabada getting the better of him on most occasions.

While the Test series was difficult for almost all Indian batsmen, except Virat Kohli, the ODI series has presented the Indian batsmen with flat pitches, but Rohit has still found a way to fail.

Kepler Wessels described Rohit’s problem as that of his footwork, which wasn’t quite made for the seaming conditions of South Africa.

But Rohit has looked a determined man in the 5th ODI so far. He has been letting the ball come to him and is taking his time to get a feel of the pitch.

While he did that for the initial 4 overs, Rabada had started settling into a good rhythm against Rohit, as Rohit wasn’t quite looking to attack.

However, that changed in the 6th over as Rohit decided to charge down the track and hit Rabada over long on for a huge six.

While the shot must have done wonders for Rohit Sharma’s confidence, it was more of a statement for Rabada, who had had the better of Rohit Sharma for most part of the series.

Match Situation

India have been put into bat on this rather slow and sluggish Port Elizabeth track. There is a sprinkling of grass on it, to provide some assistance for the seamers early on, something that the South Africans were keen on exploiting.

India have had a miserable time on this ground, having lost 5 ODI games in the past and having never crossed that 200 barrier, ever.

Virat Kohli and co. would be hoping to put a strong total on the board, so that the Indian wrist spinners can use the conditions to their advantage during the second innings.
