Both teams then scored one more goal each to end extra time at 3-3 and head towards the penalty shootouts.

In the penalty shootouts it was Messi and co. who came out on top with a 5-4 win.

Inter Miami and Messi are now headed to the Lamar Hunt US open cup finals.

Inter Miami will either face Real Salt Lake or Houston Dynamos in the finals.
