How Did Mercedes F1 Boss Toto Wolff Achieve Billionaire Status?

Mercedes AMG F1 Team Principal and part-owner Toto Wolf recently entered the billionaire's club, we take a closer look at how he got there 

After putting an end to his racing career, Toto Wolff entered the world of finance. 

He made a number of successful investments that made him a lot of money

Eventually, Wolff went back to his main passion and acquired a 16% stake in the Williams F1 team and a seat on the board. Everyone including Mercedes took note of the success Williams had since Wolff's arrival. 

Toto Wolff initially rejected Mercedes' offer to be the team principal. 

However, Mercedes came back and offered him 30% ownership in the team for $30 million and an unlimited budget to play with, Wolff agreed and the rest as they say is history

Since taking over Wolff and Mercedes have won 8 constructor's championships and seven drivers' championships

The team is currently valued at $1.5 billion and Wolff's stake in the team is worth $500 million. This is excluding all the other investments he has.
