When Charles Barkley’s Mom Hilariously Scolded Shaq For Fighting With The Rockets Superstar!

Shaquille O'Neal and Charles Barkley will be remembered as a duo who quarrel verbally every time they enter the NBAonTNT studio!

However, long before the two squared off against one another on live television, they did so in 1999 on NBA hardwood.

Charles Barkley on the Houston Rockets was an older, more testy version of himself from years prior and Shaquille O’Neal was no pushover either in any of his 19 years in the league.

So during a Lakers vs. Rockets game, things got a little heated which led to Chuck tossing the ball at Shaq's head.

The two huge men got into a fight over this, and numerous more players from both teams also got involved. Following the game, O'Neal downplayed the altercation, claiming that neither of the Hall of Famers intended to punch the other.

Shaquille O'Neal appeared on the 'Conan O'Brien Needs a Friend' podcast 14 months after Charles Barkley and naturally discussed the latter and their relationship.

The four-time champion gave an unexpected response when Conan questioned him about the famed "brawl" between the two.

“I get a phone call from my mother and his (Charles’s) mother on a three-way. I was like ‘Hello?’ and she was like, ‘This is Mama Barkley and y’all cut that sh*t out’ and my mom was like, ‘Shaquille, me and Charles’s mom on the phone, y’all need to stop that.”

It's easy to conclude that they were destined to become friends with one another at some time in their life given how connected their families were.

No one really has accounts of how Jordan reacted to this incident. However, with it being one of the only times Jordan has been embarrassed in public, one can assume he would have taken it with a pinch of salt.
