Michael Jordan was born in Brooklyn, New York in 1963, to Deloris People & James R. Jordan Sr. Here are some lesser-known facts about his upbringing.
His mother was a bank employee & his father a mill worker & they moved briefly to New York so he could train as a mechanic. It was here that Michael Jordan was born & they soon shift to New Carolina.
Michael Jordan was the 4th child out of 5 kids. He credits brother Larry for nurturing his competitive spirit, as they both fought for their parent's attention. His sisters are accomplished authors.
Jordan was good at both basketball & baseball! His father was also a baseball player.
Jordan shockingly did not make his school’s basketball team on his first try!
The next year, taller & stronger Jordan makes it and goes on to be an incredible basketball player from the get-go, continuing at the University of North Carolina.
