Wimbledon Gentlemen's Singles Final

In what would be a very strange set of events, two of the biggest sporting spectacles of 2018 could be taking place at the same time.

The Wimbledon Gentlemen’s Singles final is scheduled to take place at 2pm UK time on July 15, and the 2018 FIFA World Cup final is scheduled to kick off at 4pm UK time on the same date.

The Gentlemen’s singles final could very well stretch to more than 2 hours, with the Big 4 and the Next Gen Stars vying for the top prize at Wimbledon, and if that happens, the Wimbledon final and the World Cup Final could be taking place at the same time.

The kick off time for the World Cup Final was decided two years ago, and hence cannot be tinkered with at this moment of time. And hence in order to help the sporting audience around the world enjoy both events without having to skip any, the Wimbledon authorities have been asked to push the timing of the final by 1 hour, i.e. to start the final by 1 pm UK time.

“The men’s final will be scheduled at 2 pm as per normal” a Wimbledon spokesperson said.

While it would best for everyone that Wimbledon pushes the start time of the Final by 1 hour, so that people around the world can enjoy both events(without having to switch channels), the Wimbledon authorities have been notorious for being very rigid with traditions, and hence it looks unlikely that they would budge.

So, gear up to simultaneously watch both these events, or hope that the Wimbledon Gentlemen’s Singles final gets done within 2 hours.
