Roman Reigns What action could WWE take on Superstars refusing to show up for work

Roman Reigns and Sami Zayn have both missed WWE television for extended periods of time following the coronavirus pandemic.

The outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic has put a stop to several sporting events around the world. A few of them have restarted since. However, the WWE is one of the few sport programs that never went off air and continued with preventive measures in place.

The promotion has continued to tape their shows through the pandemic and gone about their business as usual. Although, a few superstars such as Roman Reigns, Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens have chosen not to come to work due to the aforementioned pandemic.

What action could WWE take on Superstars refusing to show up for work?

Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer Radio spoke on the possible action the WWE could take against those who have refused to show up for work. He claimed that while Reigns could possibly escape a punishment, others may not be as lucky.

With Kevin Owens it’s only been a couple of weeks… so I guess it’s not,” Meltzer said. “But with Sami Zayn it probably will be. If it’s Roman Reigns, they may not want to p*** him off, and he isn’t going anywhere anyway. He is one guy who is not going to go anywhere. But with some guys absolutely they will freeze them (their contracts).

Roman Reigns was the first one to pull out from WWE television. The Big Dog would eventually go on to miss his scheduled match against Goldberg for the Universal Championship at Wrestlemania. He was replaced by Braun Strowman who won his maiden world championship in the company.

The other notable list in the name is that of Sami Zayn. While Zayn worked Wrestlemania, he soon announced his intention to stay away from the tapings. The Intercontinental title was taken off of him and a tournament was set in motion to crown the new champion. AJ Styles would eventually emerge as the winner.

Kevin Owens is the final major name in the list. However, like Meltzer notes, the former Universal Champion has only missed a couple of weeks and will probably escape any punishment for it.

Like most combat sports enthusiasts, his passion for watching people fight began with WWE when he witnessed a young Brock Lesnar massacre Hulk Hogan back in 2002. This very passion soon branched out to boxing and mixed martial arts. Over the years he fell in love with the theatrics that preceded the bell and the poetic carnage that followed after. Each bruise a story to tell, each wound a song of struggle, his greatest desire is to be there to witness it all. His favorite wrestler is Shawn Michaels and he believes that GSP is the greatest to ever step foot inside the octagon. Apart from wrestling, he is also fond of poetry and music.
