'Sexist' Shaquille O'Neal Once Paid Ex-Wife Shaunie $300,000 To Stop Working

Shaquille O'Neal, the multi-millionaire NBA icon was married to Shaunie O'Neal & has 6 children.

He has 3 daughters - Me'arah, Amirah, and Taahirah O'Neal. He has seemed to have a big influence in raising all of his kids.

Shaquille O'Neal has always expressed how he'd like to be very protective of the women in his house, which may come from a place of witnessing his mother's struggles while raising him.

However, Shaq has expressed this in very insensitive ways in the past, coming across as sexist.

Shaquille O'Neal as a father would have different rules for his sons & daughters.

Shaq announced his sons can date when they're 18, but his daughter only when they're 24 on the Ellen Show.

Ellen DeGeneres also retorted that that doesn't sound fair.

O'Neal justified it by saying how his daughters are smart & he'd like them to remain focussed on their education & carving their careers.

A few years earlier, Shaquille O'Neal made an offensive statement suggesting his ex-wife Shaunie shouldn't work.

While it comes from a place of wanting to take care of his family, the tone could have been a lot better.

"What are you working for, How much do you make in a year? 100,000? Here's 300,000."
