Manchester City were handed a 2-year ban from the UEFA Champions league by Europe’s governing body in the month of February for breaching financial fair play rules. The club immediately announced their decision to appeal to the court of Arbitration of Sports (CAS).

However, it appears that the Premier League elites are not too keen on the possibility of City escaping the punishment. Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester United among others have launched a stunning bid to thwart City’s attempts to play in the Champion League next season.

According to the Daily Mail, the entire top 10 – except for City and Sheffield United – have submitted a joint application to CAS in an attempt to stop City’s attempt to play in the Champions League. The group, which also includes the aforementioned 4 sides, have set their differences aside in a bid to prevent City from escaping what they believe is fair punishment.
The report reads that written document sent by the clubs’ states that they strongly object City’s request that their punishment is ‘stayed’ while their appeal process is ongoing.
A particular source in the know said:
“The feeling is that enough is enough.
“For too long, City have been able to get away with breaching the rules at the expense of at least one other club that has been unable to get into the Champions League.
“The fear is that they will be able to delay any punishment and – should they win the appeal – get off scot-free, which would be outrageous.”
The report adds that City believe that certain rivals have been leading the charge against them. This shall only go and further strengthen that belief.
