Giving his side a three goal lead against Chelsea, Bukayo Saka was hailed and lauded for his man of the match display in Arsenal’s 3-1 win. The young English player doled out a power packed performance on the day, one which was a testament to the massive strides he’s made at the club in extremely little time.

The catalyst of his side’s win on the day, Saka extended Arsenal’s lead to 3-0 after netting in the second half. While the goal culminated in an alluring Arsenal move on the break, Saka’s goal was far from as convincing with the player extremely fortuitous to find the net.

In what was a likely cross across the face of the goal, Saka’s attempt ended up taking an altogether different direction. Catching Edouard Mendy off guard, the cross-shot ended up nestling into the goal to see Arsenal take an unassailable lead.

While Saka will be least concerned by the manner in which he got the goal, the player was quick to lay claim to the striker. He was seen telling Ainsley Maitland-Niles during the goal celebration that he meant to chip the ball over Mendy after seeing the Chelsea goal-keeper way off his line.

However, Chelsea’s Tammy Abraham was having none of outlandish claim. The Chelsea striker who was within earshot of Saka refused to believe the Arsenal player with Abraham heard telling Saka, “You didn’t mean it, shut up man.”

Jack Grealish has ever since also joked over Saka’s claim of his goal being a well thought and crafted one. The English player took to Twitter to mockingly claim Saka was lying over his comments of the goal being a genuine attempt at finding the net.

Tammy Abraham also scored on the day with his strike seeing Chelsea pull one back on a disappointing day. It was the only source of solace for an otherwise largely abject Chelsea side who slumped to their third defeat in four matches.
