“Am I available for the job?”: Jurgen Klopp Opens Up On Germany Job In The Wake Of Low’s Impending Departure

The Liverpool head honcho was widely envisaged to take over from Low

After news broke out from Germany today about Joachim Low deciding to relieve himself from the German manager’s job, reports have been rife about his replacement.

One name who was persistently spoken about as being a firm contender for the job was Liverpool’s Jurgen Klopp. Despite signing a lengthy contract at Liverpool last year, the Premier League manager has been constantly linked with a move away from the club.

Its down to the side’s languishing form, one which sees Liverpool currently out of the top 4. However, Klopp was quick to quash any such rumours with his making it clear that he was going nowhere.

Klopp Spurns Reports

Speaking ahead of his side’s matchup with RB Leipzig on Wednesday, Klopp asserted that he was not in the running for the job of German football’s coach.

Klopp was immediately installed as one of the favourites but the 53-year-old said: “Am I available for the job after the summer? No.

“Someone else will do the job and with the number of good German managers I am sure the German FA will find a good solution.

“I have three years left at Liverpool. You sign a contract and you stick to it.”

Low Parts Company With Germany

Joachim Low who has been at the helm of the German team had earlier revealed that he would be leaving the post after the commencement of Euro 2020.

“I take this step very consciously, full of pride and enormous gratitude, but at the same time continue to be very motivated when it comes to the upcoming European Championship tournament,” Low said in a statement.

“Proud, because it is something very special and an honour for me to be involved in my country. And because I have been able to work with the best footballers in the country for almost 17 years and support them in their development.

“I am and will remain grateful to the DFB, which has always provided me and the team with an ideal working environment.”

DFB president Fritz Keller paid tribute to Low’s achievements, saying: “He is one of the greatest coaches in world football.

“The fact that he informed us about his decision at an early stage is very decent. He gives us, the DFB, the necessary time, calm and a sense of proportion to name his successor.”

“The DFB knows what it has in Jogi, he is one of the greatest coaches in world football.

“Jogi Low has had German football like no other for years. Not only because of his sporting achievements, but also because of his empathy and humanity.
