WATCH : Lionel Messi doubles Barcelona’s lead against Celta Vigo
After a tight first leg away, Barcelona knew that they had to play well to beat a very organized Celta Vigo side at home.
But someone did not tell that to Lionel Messi, as the Argentine took matter into his own hands and scored two within the first fifteen minutes of the games.
The first goal was yet another beauty from Messi, as he received a pass from Jordi Alba, before he finished off the move himself. Alba’s bouncing ball was met by Messi, as the Argentine half volleyed the ball into the bottom corner of the net.
That was on minute 13, and then two minutes later, the same two people combined to give Barcelona a 3-1 lead early in the match.
Messi finished off another move from Barcelona, as the Argentine put in a masterclass in first fifteen minutes of the match.
It is funny to think almost a couple of months ago that Messi was close to leaving the club. After a disastrous summer transfer window, Barcelona were in dire need of some inspiration for their season.
Neymar’s departure really knocked the stuffing out of the Catalan club, as all of a sudden no player was considered at any club anymore. But Messi has risen up once again, as he conjured up some of his best form in a Barcelona shirt to drive them up the league standings.
Messi played one of the best games at the very end of 2017, as he was instrumental in Barcelona’s 3-0 triumph at the Bernabeu.
The Argentine recently signed a contract extension, as he secured his future with the Catalan club for the foreseeable future.
