Virat Kohli confirms Jasprit Bumrah will play 3rd Test
Virat Kohli confirms Jasprit Bumrah will play 3rd Test and everyone is excited that he is back into the Indian setup after an injury
After a humiliating defeat at the hands of England in Lord’s, the Indian team management will be well aware that a few important changes will have to be made in their bid for a comeback in this series. The hosts, England will look to clinch the series in the third match at the Nottingham in Trent Bridge from Saturday.
There is some good news for Team India as far as the fitness of their players is concerned. Jasprit Bumrah, who missed out on a major part of this tour, has been declared fit for the third Test match. In the press conference, on Friday, Indian skipper, Virat Kohli had a lot of praise for Bumrah and also gave a hint about his inclusion in the upcoming Test.
“We are very excited with Jasprit getting fit again. He is an attacking bowler and bowls good lines and lengths. He is very consistent in hitting the areas that are required at the Test level and he has shown that in South Africa already,” said the captain when asked about Bumrah returning back to full fitness.
“He (Bumrah) is one guy who is very aggressive in his mind, he wants to take the situation front-on and make the batsmen feel uncomfortable out in the middle and that has been his biggest strength. He relishes the challenge, whenever given the opportunity,” Kohli added about Bumrah’s aggression on the field.
“We are very excited that he is coming back. He is a quality bowler and it is great to have someone like him on the park,” the skipper concluded.
The conditions in England are traditionally a daunting proposition for batsmen, given the support to the pace bowlers due to the overcast skies and moist pitches. The Indian pace bowlers failed to hit the right spots on a consistent basis in the previous Test match and hence weren’t able to pick up wickets at regular intervals like the England bowlers did.
The inclusion of an aggressive bowler like Jasprit Bumrah, who was the pick of the bowlers against South Africa, could be a great asset to India as they try to make a comeback in this series.
