Marcelo comments on Isco: Brazilian star sends warning for midfielder
Marcelo comments on Isco: The Brazilian defender spoke on Isco as Santiago Solari continues to keep him on the sidelines.
Real Madrid booked a spot in the round-of-16 of the Champions League for the 15th consecutive year as they defeated AS Roma 2-0 last night. Two second-half goals from Gareth Bale and Lucas Vazques sealed a spot in the next round for Los Blancos.
Real Madrid have struggled in the season so far. After the departure of Cristiano Ronaldo, the goals dried up for Real. The club ran through its worst goalless run in history, and a 5-1 thumping to FC Barcelona saw the end of Julen Lopetegui’s tenure at the club.
After a series of impressive results, Santiago Solari was appointed the permanent manager of the club, but the side faced a setback last weekend as they conceded their first ever league loss to Eibar (0-3). Real, however, made a strong comeback against the Italian side in the Champions League.
The absence of Isco has been another cause of concern for Real Madrid fans. The Spanish midfielder was dropped altogether from the squad for the Champions League game against Roma, which raised doubts over his future at Santiago Bernabeu.
Marcelo comments on Isco:
The Brazilian defender talked about Isco after the game against Roma, where he stated that the player needs to work hard to make a comeback into the side.
“I’m not someone to give out advice,” Marcelo told the reporters, as quoted by Diario Sport. “All of us are adults, we are fathers, we have families and we need to know how to be professional, everyone wants to play and if you want to play then you must work.”

Marcelo insisted that Isco must improve his ‘mistake.’
“I’m not saying that he (Isco) is not working but when you see you have made a mistake you must improve,” Marcelo said.

The 26-year old midfielder hasn’t started any of the six games under Santiago Solari’s charge at Real Madrid, and has played only 82 minutes of football under the manager.
Marcelo on Isco’s situation under Solari: “I’m not the one who gives advice, we’re older, we’re parents and know what we have to do. All the players want to play but everyone must work hard. Football is like that; see what you’re failing at and improve it.” pic.twitter.com/dZl9UthH0l

“Dropping Isco was a specific decision for a specific moment,” Solari said after the game. “Coaches are in place to make decisions and that’s it, I’m here to make decisions.”
