Arsenal are determined to sign Argentina forward Cristian Pavon from Boca Juniors.

Unai Emery’s club has been quite active in the transfer market, with two signings already in the transfer kitty. Arsenal signed veteran defender Stephan Lichtsteiner from Juventus, and yesterday announced Bern Leno’s signature from Bayer Leverkusen.

According to latest reports, Sokratis Papastathopoulos arrived in London to complete his move to Arsenal. Besides, the North London club are also pursuing Argentine midfielder Ever Banega, who impressed with his performances for the national team in the World Cup.

The Unai Emery’s side are now linked with another Argentine, Cristian Pavon. The 22-year old was a surprise inclusion in the starting XI against France in the round-of-16 match. The closely fought match ended 4-3 in the favour of the European side.

According to Spanish media outlet AS, Arsenal had put to table a £27m bid for Pavon in the January transfer window [TalkSport], and want to sign the forward. The report says that Unai Emery is interested in bringing the forward to North London.

After his performances at the World Cup, many clubs will be interested in the signature of Pavon, and so Boca Juniors are reportedly not rushing towards agreeing an offer just yet.

The forward has made 65 appearances for Boca Juniors since signing for them in 2014, scoring 17 goals. He made his debut for the national team in 2017.

Pavon’s deal with Boca Juniors expires in 2022.

Earlier, Jack Wilshere announced his departure from the club after a reported meeting with Unai Emery, where the manager failed to guarantee him a regular starting spot for the next season.
