FC Barcelona is set to go after the Monaco star if deal for Antoine Griezmann fails to go through.

The Catalan giants will chase Thomas Lemar from Monaco if Antoine Griezmann fails to join the club, according to Sport.

Barcelona are heavily linked with Griezmann since the last two summer transfer windows. It is speculated that a deal for the Atletico Madrid forward will definitely go through this season. However, Griezmann has failed to make any communication to the Catalan club, according to reports.

Hence, Barcelona are forced to look for back-up options. Various reports suggested that Barcelona will be looking to sign Christian Eriksen from Tottenham Hotspur, as they see them as an able replacement for Andres Iniesta.

Now, Sport has reported that the Catalan club is monitoring Thomas Lemar from AS Monaco. According to the report, Monaco has valued Lemar at €90m.

Thomas Lemar almost signed for Arsenal in the January transfer window, but the deal reportedly collapsed. Lemar also garnered interest from Liverpool. However, he had an average season with Monaco this season.

Lemar played 27 Ligue 1 games for Monaco this season, scoring only 2 goals. However, he is selected in the 23-man squad for France as they aim for world cup glory in Russia this summer.

Barcelona are in need of an attacker who can ease off the pressure from Luis Suarez, and in the absence of Griezmann, Lemar can play that role with efficiency.

According to Sport, Chelsea are also attempting to sign the French midfielder from AS Monaco.
