Ravi Shastri named Indian Cricket Coach

After a month long saga, India finally have landed a head coach. Ravi Shastri will be Kumble’s successor and will be be India’s head coach until the 2019 World Cup!

The CAC had conducted its interviews last night, as 5 candidates were shortlisted to present their case to Sourav Ganguly, VVS Laxman and Sachin Tendulkar. The coach was set to be announced last evening itself, but Ganguly told reporters that the CAC would like to consult Virat Kohli, as it is the captain who would be directly dealing with the coach and should be comfortable with his system.

He was quick to point out that the CAC would be discussing ‘systems’ rather than ‘coaches’. Also, that Indian Cricket could not afford another coach-captain fiasco, as the coach would continue until the 2019 World Cup.

Virat Kohli has always been in sync with Shastri’s ideology and had even credited him for helping him out during a rough phase.

Shastri’s first assignment would be the Sri Lanka tour, where India would play 3 Test matches, 5 ODI’s and 1 T20.
