Fantasy Premier League Gameweek 2 Best Picks, Must Have Players, Bargain Buys And Captain

The SportsRush dole out the most ideal picks for the impending second gameweek along with pondering on the most suitable captaincy choice for this week

With us ready to step into the second gameweek of the season starting Saturday with an intriguing set of fixtures lined up our way, so is our Fantasy Premier League side. The opening week of the newest instalment of the season provided some much needed insight into the players who look set to play a pivotal role in helping us make ascendancy in the ranks of our leagues, options we have incurred for the upcoming gameweek.

Fantasy Premier League Gameweek 2 Tips

While the quissential players have been featured, we have also ventured into players who are lowly owned at the moment and can help make a huge difference to your ranks in this gameweek. With some tricky fixtures in the upcoming gameweek, we also pondered heavily on the most pristine formation and who looks set to be the most ideal captaincy choice this time around.

Goal-Keepers for Fantasy Premier League Gameweek 2

Andy Lonergan, 4 million

With both of Liverpool’s main goal-keepers out injured at the moment, Andy Lonergan at just 4 million offers excellent value at the moment. With Alisson out for atleast a month and no certainty on Adrian’s recovery period, Lonergan could end up getting an extended run, helping free up money to invest in elsewhere. Also with the side playing Southampton this week, a cleansheet look extremely likely, making the shot stopper an exquisite buy.

Matthew Ryan, 4.5 million

When we had crafted out our FPL side for the first time last gameweek, Ryan had featured on the top of our pile owing to both his ensuing fixtures and his exemplary ability as a shot stopper. With 3 saves against Watford and a cleansheet, he ended up returning with two bonus points as well to add 9 incredible points to our side and the looming clashes against West Ham and Southampton only reaffirm his importance to our side.

Jordan Pickford, 5.5 million

With Watford extremely lacklustre against Brighton in the previous gameweek, bereft of attacking ideas, Everton look nicely poised to register a cleansheet today. They are coming off a shut down against Crystal Palace plus have the added incentive of playing at home, factors which work out nicely in their favour.

Defenders for Fantasy Premier League Gameweek 2

Trent Alexander-Arnold, 7 million

With the rightback coming in on the second half for Liverpool’s Super Cup clash against Chelsea in the bygone days, the rightback is set to one of the fitter defenders in Liverpool’s backline at the moment. With the rest of the defence involved in a gruelling 2 hours of football against Chelsea, Arnold could end up carrying out a majority of the side’s attacking soirees in the backline, massively increasing the likelihood of his registering an assist today.

Ainsley Maitland-Niles, 5 million

The man of the match for Arsenal in the previous encounter against Newcastle, Ainsley was an integral part of the side’s slender 1-0 in both defence and attack. Not only did he come up with a slew of well read tackles and blocks but also ended up creating Aubameyang goal, seeing him come up with 12 points from the encounter. Playing Burnley at home, another cleansheet looks extremely plausible, making him someone to get.

Lewis Dunk, 4.5 million

An assist and a cleansheet to go along with it, all at a price of 4.5 million and we couldn’t have asked for more. The Brighton defender showed us why he’s considered so highly as a bargain, one of the best cheap defenders you can rope into your side at the moment. He has two delicious fixtures in the next couple of gameweeks and is someone you should hammer down into your playing 11 and leave aside.

Lucas Digne, 6 million

A cleansheet the last time around and an easy fixture at home in this gameweek, paired with tantalising matches in the time to follow make Everton’s rightback someone to divulge in. The side play a formation and indulge in a gameplan which see the fullbacks heavily involved in providing both width and assistance to their wide attacking players, something which Digne come up with several assists in the previous season.

Midfielders for Fantasy Premier League Gameweek 2

Raheem Sterling, 12.1 million

With three goals against West Ham in the opening gameweek, Raheem Sterling became one of the first players to see his price go up. Up by 0.1 million, the Manchester City rightwinger has a tricky match this gameweek but since when has that deterred City from piling on the goals. Playing right next to the striker, Sterling sees a hoard of chances fall his way and is bound to convert atleast one of them today.

Mohammed Salah, 12.5 million

Although he was disappointing against Chelsea, a clash against Southampton and a goal and assists Norwich mean that we just can’t leave Salah out for this one. The way he had Roberto Firmino linked up in the previous match made for sublime viewing with the two intertwining their skill set in unison to rip apart newly promoted Norwich.

Richarlison, 8 million

Everton dwindled against Crystal Palace the last time around in what was a drab 0-0 draw between the two sides but back at home and the side will be looking to overhaul that sordid performance. Having invested heavily in attack, the side will be looking to unlock their true potential and with the club up against Watford who were trounced 3-0 in the previous gameweek, we can envisage Richarlison getting a goal today.

Christian Pulisic, 7.5 million

He didn’t start for Chelsea in their opening gameweek but also included in the side for the club’s fixture against Liverpool, a match where the player went onto showcase his ability. He used his slew of abilities to pinch perfection, ripping apart Liverpool’s right side with Joe Gomez coming under special treatment and with an ownership of just 8.9%, the leftwinger could offer excellent value to your side today.

Wilfred Zaha, 7 million

He didn’t start for his side in the previous encounter after being embroiled in a massive transfer mess before the season began but Zaha should be back in the playing 11 for his one. Up against Sheffield United, the side will be looking to rake up their first win of the season with Zaha heavily involved in the moves the side will string together up the park.

Strikers for Fantasy Premier League Gameweek 2

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, 11 million

With a goal in the previous gameweek, the only one his side were able to scramble together as they managed to scamper out of a skirmish against Newcastle with a 1-0, Aubameyang comes into our side for this one as well. Although they are up against a determined and gutsy Burnley outfit, Arsenal should have atleast one goal in them, one very likely Aubameyang will end up scoring.

Roberto Firmino, 9.5 million

Over the course of the two matches Liverpool have contested till in now, their striker has emerged as the most impressive player till now. He’s yet to score but with two assists and the way he’s playing a goal is looming for Roberto Firmino. He’s used his affinity to link up with Mane and Mohammed Salah perfectly, not only creating in the front but doing the work in midfield as well when his side are yearning for new ideas.

Sergio Aguero, 12 million

He didn’t play the play time around but with City playing a much stronger Tottenham side today, Sergio Aguero should be imbedded in the side once again. He’s one of the best strikes in the league at the moment, the fulcrum of this City side and will be looking to open his campaign with a goal to his name after converting a penalty against West Ham.

Teemu Pukki, 6.6 million

With a goal against Liverpool, Norwich’s striker has now scored in every league he’s played in. It was a neat finish as well from him, comfortably slotting the ball to help Norwich score their first of an otherwise harrowing outing and with the side playing against Newcastle this gameweek, Teemu Pukki getting another is very plausible.
