Jose Mourinho after match vs Chelsea

Jose Mourinho after match vs Chelsea: The Portuguese manager talked to the media after the game against Chelsea.

Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho was livid after an intense 2-2 draw against Chelsea. Ross Barkley’s equalizer in the final minute of the match was followed by a fight in the dugout between Mourinho and Chelsea’s assistant manager, Marco Ianni.

United, yet, would be happy to salvage a point at Stamford Bridge, which is Mourinho’s first at the place since becoming the manager at Manchester United.

Anthony Martial scored a brace after Rudiger gave Chelsea the lead in the first half, but Ross Barkley ruined United’s hopes of registering their first win at Chelsea since 2012.

Chelsea are still second in the league, while Manchester United continue to remain at 8th, with 14 points from 9 games.

Jose Mourinho talked about the game and the controversy to the media following the full-time whistle:

The Portuguese manager insisted that they were the best team on the pitch and stated that the team was in control even in the first half.

“We were the best team on the pitch,” said Jose.

“We weren’t there in the first half against Newcastle, but today we were there. In the first half we weren’t aggressive enough. We controlled their triggers. I’ve never seen Jorginho play so little as he did today.”

However, he did admit that the players were at fault for Chelsea’s first goal. “Every player knows with closed eyes which is their player and which is their space,” Mourinho said.

Mourinho also insisted that six minutes of extra time was more than necessary. “Normally when I’m losing I don’t have 5 or 6 or 7 minutes.”

The manager said that he is happy with the team’s performance.

“The team played very well. Individually in the second half our attacking players raised the bar. I’m really really really pleased with the individuals and the team.”

He also addressed the questions about Chelsea fans abusing him after the fight in the dugout with Chelsea’s assistant manager, who ran through the touchline and made a fist-pump in front of Mourinho.

“Did I get respect today? I don’t think. What I did here today I will do one day in Madrid, Porto and Milan. The reaction of the fans is up to them,” said the United manager.

“Sarri said he would solve the problem with his assistant internally and he (Marco Ianni) then came to me and apologised and I said if he really meant it then okay, I accept,” Mourinho said about the fight.
