Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp spoke to the media after the side registered a 2-1 win over Tottenham.

Liverpool beat Tottenham 2-1 as Toby Alderweireld scored an unfortunate own goal in the final minute of the game.

Earlier, Roberto Firmino opened the goalscoring for the hosts in the 16th minute of the game, before Lucas Moura equalized in the second half.

However, it was Liverpool who tasted success with a stunning final minute winner, as Mohamed Salah’s shot was unluckily passed onto his own net by Toby Alderweireld.

Hugo Lloris, the Tottenham goalkeeper could’ve done better to save the shot, but instead committed a howler which led to Liverpool winning the game.

Liverpool’s manager, Jurgen Klopp talked to the media after the dramatic game at Anfield.

Klopp on Liverpool’s win:

Jurgen Klopp stated that he prefers winning tight games to outright ‘3-0, 4-0’ wins. Liverpool won signficantly close games throughout their campaign in the Premier League season.

The side climbed to the top of the league with the win tonight and are one of the favourites to win the league title.

“I was not surprised when we conceded a goal because we were not as good in the second half as we were in the first,” Klopp said.

“Tottenham changed things at half time. First half, we could have scored more goals. A lot of good moments.”

On being asked whether such a win creates a better psychological impact on the team than wins like 3-0 or 4-0, Klopp replied, “100%.”

He also talked about the winning goal.

“I was relatively calm [after the winning goal] because it was a surprise, that situation. I saw the header and nothing else. I had no clue how the ball went in.

“I was not happy we conceded but I thought we needed it a little bit. In the first half we had fantastic chances and scored a wonderful goal.

“In the second half we looked heavy and couldn’t really play. They changed only a little bit. We didn’t adapt well.

“After Spurs’ goal we started playing again more. We had bigger chances. We compete with the best team in the world [Manchester City] and play against one of best in the world in Tottenham – it is a tough task. It is all good.”
