Kalidou Koulibaly to Manchester United

Kalidou Koulibaly has broken the silence about his future at Napoli.

Manchester United have been in great fettle since Ole Gunnar Solskjaer took over in mid-December. They have fought their way out from an uneasy position to sit fourth in the Premier League table, despite losing to Paris Saint Germain in the first leg of the Champions League Round of 16.

The Red Devils are enjoying scintillating offensive football, but their calamities at the back have come back to haunt them. Their shambolic defensive shape against Thomas Tuchel’s side got exposed once again when Angel Di Maria and Kylian Mbappe were finding it too easy to run behind the Red Devils defenders.

During the last summer transfer window, Jose Mourinho was adamant about a new centre-back, but the board denied to respond to his approach. With results faltering and the Portuguese International’s tactics relying on a defensive approach, the former Chelsea manager was shown the exit door following the defeat to Liverpool.

According to various sources, it is understood that Ed Woodward has shortlisted three centrebacks to his list. Kalidou Koulibaly, Joachim Anderson and Milan Skriniar are the names to be present on the list going with the reports.

There is no doubt that the Red Devils have made their priority sorted and Kalidou Koulibaly is well aware about the interest he is attracting from the English outfit.

Speaking to Rai Sport, the Senegalese International told “My future? I don’t know if I’m one of the strongest defenders. I always try to give my best. Since I’m here, I always try to grow with Napoli. I have a lot of motivation to go on and I want to keep doing this.

“I am pleased that many teams follow me, but I want to demonstrate on the field that I am at the level of the greatest and I want to show it in the future.”

Napoli turned down a 100 million euro bid from Barcelona during the January transfer window as the club was not keen on cashing their star players in the middle of the season. However, the same amount is expected to suffice in the forthcoming summer to lure him away from San Paolo Stadium.

With the likes of Victor Lindelof, Phil Jones, Eric Bailly, Chris Smalling, and Marcos Rojo in the disposal, it is expected to witness the Red Devils go all out for Koulibaly in the summer window.
