Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp blamed injuries to Man Utd players for the goalless draw at Old Trafford.

Manchester United held Liverpool to a goalless draw at Old Trafford. Solskjaer’s side were forced to make three changes within the first half as Ander Herrera, Juan Mata and Jesse Lingard were all substituted with muscle injuries.

Liverpool also lost Roberto Firmino in the first 45 minutes of the game as the striker was subbed off for Daniel Sturridge due to injury.

Jurgen Klopp’s side failed to step up, and Mohamed Salah’s substitution late in the second half summed up their performance.

However, Klopp seemed to suggest that the consistent injuries faced by Manchester United broke Liverpool’s momentum in the game.

“It was a strange game,” Klopp said. “We started really well. All the injuries in the game obviously cost us rhythm.”

He further added that Roberto Firmino’s injury was another big blow in the game.

“It happened to us with Bobby [Firmino] and that was a catastrophe,” Klopp said.

The Liverpool manager further added that the new faces in the Manchester United midfield made it difficult for his boys to get back in the game.

“The boys didn’t feel okay. I could see it in their faces. I was thinking, ‘what is gong on here today?’. United played with a completely new midfield and three up front. We lost our rhythm and couldn’t get it back.

“It was a game without a lot of highlights – it was intense.”

The Liverpool boss admitted that the side lost a big opportunity to secure three points against their arch-rivals.

“On days when United are beatable you have to do it,

“We played around with no speed. We expect to play better football. It is a point at United and everybody feels it could have been more.

“United were favourites before the game, then it all changed and all of a sudden we had something to lose, people start to think if we don’t beat this team there is something wrong with us. We are all human beings.”
