Skip Bayless congratulates Damian Lillard

The Skip Bayless-Damian Lillard saga has been in the news all through the week. Tonight, Skip congratulated Dame for his performance but demands he beat LeBron.

Skip Bayless has been trying to be in the news with his comments on Damian Lillard. Bayless made it very clear over the last few days that he didn’t rate Lillard highly.

After a few exchanges over social media and quotes on ‘Undisputed’, Bayless went ahead and actually complimented Lillard for his performance vs Mavs.

The Blazers star was on fire tonight, dropping 61 points and hitting a clutch 3 to keep his side’s playoff hopes alive.

Skip Bayless wants Damian Lillard to beat LeBron James

The NBA analyst has always been finding ways to put LeBron down and now feels Dame should knock him out in the 1st round of the playoffs.

Blazers have a chance of making it to the play-in tournament and then taking on the Lakers in the 1st round. That is one match-up the Lakers would be dreading in the playoffs, especially in the 1st round.

Bayless wants Lillard to bring forth his clutch play and dump the Lakers out of the playoffs.

‘Damian Lillard is no LeBron James’

While Bayless wants Lillard to knock LeBron and the Lakers out, he feels Lillard is not at the same level as James.

In an earlier interview, Skip called Lillard out for getting(and demanding) the same kind of attention as LeBron, but not having really done anything of LeBron’s stature to deserve that.

He specifically focussed on how ‘unclutch’ he was against a KD less Warriors in the conference finals.

“LeBron is obviously the face of this league and has earned the right to be the face of this league and I wondered out loud on TV to you, what exactly has Damian Lillard ever won to achieve this kind of stature in this league because seriously he’s won nothing,” Bayless said.

Lillard’s phone call with Bayless

Post all the controversy, Lillard has revealed that on a phone call, Bayless actually backtracked on all his comments.

On ‘Undisputed’ then, Bayless revealed the contents of that call and called out Lillard for asking the NBA to devise a plan to help the Blazers make it to the playoffs.

“He said he would go to the bubble but unless the NBA could devise a format that would give them a chance to make the playoffs, he was going to sit on the bench and watch these bubble games if he didn’t actually have a chance to actually make the playoffs” Bayless highlighted.

With a 1st round playoff game vs the Lakers in his sights, Lillard would want to shun off all the distractions and focus on the final seeding game and take his team to the play-in tournament.
