Sadio Mane has made a huge statement about Premier League and Champions League glory ahead of the clash against Southampton.

Sadio Mane is having a surreal season by scoring on a consistent basis since the turn of the New Year. The Liverpool forward has scored 11 goals in 12 games in all competitions in 2019, thereby winning the Liverpool Player of the month for the month of March. His goal tally included a brace against Bayern Munich in the Champions League Round of 16 and progress to the Quarterfinals.

The forward was asked if March was the best month in Liverpool’s colours, Mane responded “I would say it was one of the best. I’m happy to win the award. It was one of the best individual months for each player because we did very well and won almost every game. It was a great month.”

The Reds struggled to muster out results in January, but they have bounced back well by keeping up the pace with Manchester City. The forward has claimed that he aims for the Premier League and Champions League glory with the club this season.

“Every single player, every single supporter, has more motivation at this stage of the competition, because we have only one target and that’s to win trophies. We are in two different competitions – Premier League and Champions League. We want to will them for sure and we are doing everything together to get it.”

After the victory against Spurs at Anfield on Sunday, Mane was vocal about Liverpool’s chances of lifting the Premier League. The Reds number 10 urged his side to win all the remaining games to win the competition.

When he was asked if their side will be able to achieve that foot, he responded: “I am confident and I think we can do that. So, we are going to try and give everything in the last six games to win. Even though it is not easy, everything with us is possible.” added Mane.

Of his five strikes, Mane chose the opening goal in the Champions League clash with Bayern at the Allianz Arena as his favourite, somewhat modestly describing the effort as ‘lucky’.

But pressed to explain the quick thinking and technique behind an outstanding piece of solo skill that set Liverpool on course for the quarter-finals, he said: “It was a great pass from Virg.

“When I made the first contact I wanted to chip the ball with my right foot, but when I saw the goalkeeper I changed my mind and tried to go onto the left side.

“Before I shot, I saw the players going towards goal so I tried to chip it so it would be difficult for them to touch the ball.”
