Sanju Samson fails Yo-Yo Test, dropped from India A squad

Sanju Samson has been knocking on that Indian team door for a long time now. His success in the IPL has helped him make his debut for the national side, but his inconsistencies with the bat have constantly forced him out of the national setup.

The cycle is simple for Sanju, perform in the IPL, get a call up for India or India A squads, perform mildly and go into oblivion until the next IPL.

However, this time he has walked off the scene without actually featuring for India A, as he has failed his Yo-Yo test.

Reports in the Mumbai Mirror suggest that Samson was unable to get past the 16.1 mark barrier that has been set by the Indian team management. As a result, Samson has been forced out of the India A side.

The India A team is scheduled play a tri-series against England A and Windies A in England starting from the 22nd of June. The tour consists of 6 league games and two practice matches. The practice games will be played against Yorkshire and Leicestershire on 17th and 19th June.

Shreyas Iyer will be captaining the team in England. Lots of Indian youngsters have received the chance to showcase their skills in England with Shaw, Gill and Chahar being the biggest names out of the India U-19 team and the IPL.

This England tour will help the Indian youngsters to get a flavour for International cricket in foreign conditions and a good showing in England could go a long way in cementing a spot with the Indian senior cricket team.

The Yo-Yo Test failure will come as a massive blow for Samson, as this tour could have paved a way for Samson’s entry into the Indian national team.

However, he’ll now have to work on his fitness before standing a chance to play for India.
