Toby Alderweireld has made Manchester United fans go berserk by liking a tweet.

Tottenham Hotspur defender Toby Alderweireld has dropped a huge transfer hint by liking a tweet of a Manchester United fan wanting him at Old Trafford. The Belgian is currently contracted with the London club up to the summer of 2019.

Responding to the question about hiring 5 players, the Old Trafford faithful wanted his club to sign Kalidou Koulibaly, Toby Alderweireld, Dayot Upamecano, Alex Sandro and Arjen Robben.

As soon as Toby Alderweireld liked that tweet, the Manchester United fans have started to go berserk and tweet about him.

The former Atletico Madrid defender has played an integral part by starting 14 out of 16 League games this season. Additionally, he has made 5 appearances and 1 appearance in the Champions League and the League Cup respectively.

When Spurs were without Davinson Sanchez and Jan Vertonghen for a large spell in the first part of the season, Toby was present to shield the backline. Juan Foyth is nearing his full fitness following his hamstring trouble and could be available for the weekend clash against Burnley. Despite all these boosts, Mauricio Pochettino will not want his star defender to leave during the middle of the season.

The Red Devils manager Jose Mourinho had his own wishlist during the summer transfer window and Toby Alderweireld was the first name in the paper, followed by Harry Maguire, Jerome Boateng, and Diego Godin. But, all those names opted to remain at their own club rather than switching teams which has frustrated the Portuguese International.

The Portuguese International has Eric Bailly, Chris Smalling, Phil Jones, Victor Lindelof, and Marcus Rojo at the disposal right now. Manchester United manager can see an obvious dip in quality in the centre-back department.

On the other hand, Eric Bailly could be on his way to Arsenal after making just 6 appearances this term and Chris Smalling has been playing through an injury over the last few weeks. Only Victor Lindelof has been hitting the form lately, but Marcus Rojo and Phil Jones have been struggling to find their feet this term.

Jose Mourinho will be aiming to lure Alderweireld away to Old Trafford following an appalling start to the campaign. The Red Devils are currently 6th in the Premier League table and 8 points behind the fourth spot which is occupied by Chelsea with 34 points.

The weekend Premier League football action will see Tottenham Hotspur play Burnley followed on Saturday by the gigantic fixture on Sunday – Liverpool will take on Manchester United at Anfield.
