WATCH: Arjun Nair involved in doomed run-out in Strikers vs Thunder BBL knockout match
Arjun Nair involved in doomed run-out: The Thunder’s all-rounder was down on luck at the Adelaide Oval today.
During the knockout match of the ongoing ninth season of the Big Bash League between Adelaide Strikers and Sydney Thunder in Adelaide, Sydney Thunder all-rounder Arjun Nair was down on his luck as he got dismissed in the most star-crossed manner.
It all happened on the third delivery of the 17th over when Sydney all-rounder Chris Morris nailed a straight drive off Adelaide seamer Peter Siddle. In what was a properly timed shot, Siddle didn’t have enough time to stop the ball.
However, the ball accidentally touching the bowler’s foot on its way to the stumps at the non-striker’s end saw the downfall of Nair who had backed up too far. Coming in to bat at No. 5 in the 12th over, Nair ended up scoring 18 (18) with the help of one six.
After Strikers captain Travis Head won the toss and invited the visitors in to bat, Thunder posted a mediocre 151/7 in their allotted quota of 20 overs.
Having scored 59 (35) with the help of six fours and four sixes, Sydney opening batsman Alex Hales top-scored for his team. It is worth mentioning that the 31-year old player registered in fourth half-century in the last five matches.
Continuing with his rich returns, Siddle once again emerged as Strikers’ best bowler with bowling figures of 4-0-21-2. Apart from Siddle, Head, Michael Neser, Rashid Khan and Wes Agar picked a wicket apiece.

Would Arjun Nair have been run out if he wasn’t backing up halfway down the pitch?

With all the talk about ‘spirit of cricket’ today, @petersiddle403 just had the single best example of it saying ‘sorry mate’ to Arjun Nair after that borderline accidental dismissal #BBL09
