Linkin Park’s numb was played in the year 2014 instead of Malta’s national anthem is a mistake still being laughed upon after 5 years.
Playing wrong national anthem is not as rare as it was used to be, last night in France Vs Albania, before the kick-off national anthem of Andorra was played instead of Albania’s anthem. It was spotted when Albanian players looked confused while listening the rhythms of the wrong national anthem.
It was a sign of disrespect and it got even worse when the announcer apologized to the visitors but said Armenia instead. Although, this incident reminded football fans that happened in 2014.
Back in 2014, Malta was set to play Slovakia, and before the kick-off, players of Malta were all set to pump their chests while listening to their national anthem but instead ‘Numb’ by Linkin Park was accidentally played.

It was later discovered that the person in-charge of the sound system had accidentally placed his Ipod on the reshuffle and he did not realize it before connecting it to the sound devices at the stadium.
While it may have only played for a second, it was unmistakably the intro to one of the bands most iconic songs. The song was barely started to roll before the person in-charge cut it short.
Fortunately, the players saw the funny side of it and were seen laughing at the hilarious gaffe. However, the person at the at the sounds would have gone numb after hearing the initial music of the song.
This incident could help the person to forget his mistake against Albanians but there is no doubt that last night was much bigger blunder than what happened to Malta in 2014.
As mentioned above, the national team of Malta took it light heartedly, whereas Albanian players found it offensive and there was a delay in the match.
