WATCH : Messi scores against Bilbao and shows off a new celebration
Lionel Messi was at it again today, as he scored a superb goal to double Barcelona’s lead against Athletic Bilbao.
Barcelona took an early lead after Paco Alcacer scored a superb opener to give his team the lead. It was a great goal for Alcacer, as the striker has been starved of minutes this season.
It was a wonderful moment for him, and he took his goal with aplomb. Then it was Messi’s turn as he scored another goal in what is soon turning into one of his best campaigns.

Messi’s role in the side has been different this year, as the Agrentine genius has tried to evolve from a goal scoring forward to more of a goal creating midfielder. Barcelona’s number ten has admitted that he wants to develop and change his game a little.
“Before I was robbing the ball and making my play [alone], or at least trying to make my play.”
In contrast, “now I try to play more for the team, to pass the ball more and to not be such a finisher or so selfish, in inverted commas.”

The attacker added: “I try to move the team from one position to another, but I keep running as much as ever, just in a different way.”
But that does not stop him from scoring when he wants, as Messi finished off a great move with a sumptuous finish against Bilbao.
Barcelona need Messi to be at his best for the remainder of the season, as there is a very good chance that they could win a third treble this year. No doubt it will be difficult in the Champions League, but with Messi firing on all cylinders, anything is possible.
