WATCH: Virat Kohli clarifies tweet on MS Dhoni which sparked rumours about Dhoni’s retirement
Virat Kohli clarifies tweet on MS Dhoni: The Indian captain’s tweet had become a national news within no time on Thursday.
India captain Virat Kohli has asserted that people should not pass opinion about former captain and current wicket-keeper batsman Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s retirement from international cricket. Unperturbed with Dhoni’s age, Kohli didn’t consider it a reason to question his potential.
“Experience is always going to matter whether you like it or not. Many players have proven in the past that age is just a number and even [MS] Dhoni has done that a lot in his career.
“One thing great about him is that he thinks for Indian cricket. When to stop playing cricket, is completely an individual decision. No one should give opinions regarding the matter,” Kohli was quoted as saying during the pre-series press conference in Dharamsala.
Virat Kohli clarifies tweet on MS Dhoni
As recent as the day before yesterday, Kohli’s tweet on Dhoni was misunderstood by netizens. There were unofficial reports of Dhoni calling it a day from international cricket the same evening. Being asked about the same, Kohli gave a detailed explanation and admitted learning a lesson regarding posting any such tweet in the future.

“Mere zehen mein kuch naahi thaa yaar (I had nothing in my mind). I was sitting at home and I normally put out a photograph and it became a news item.
“I think it was a lesson for me, that the way I think, the whole world does not think that way. There was nothing in farthest stretch of my imagination [that it could be taken as retirement tribute] while putting that picture out on social media,” Kohli was quoted as saying.
