Mohammed Shami castles Temba Bavuma: The Indian fast bowler bowled an inspired spell on the last day of the first Test.

During the fifth day of the first Test of the ongoing South Africa’s tour of India in Visakhapatnam, India fast bowler Mohammed Shami bowled a peach of a delivery to dismiss South Africa middle-order batsman Temba Bavuma.

It all happened on the third delivery of the 12th over when Bavuma was undone by a delivery which both came in and stayed low. Despite the batsman making an attempt to defend the ball, he ended up missing it altogether.

Coming in to bat at No. 4 in the 11th over, Bavuma ended up scoring 0 (2) as he failed for the second time in this match. Bavuma’s dismissal was followed by Shami dismissing South Africa captain Faf du Plessis (19) and wicket-keeper batsman Quinton de Kock (0) in the same mode of dismissal.

With bowling figures of 8-0-21-3 at the time of writing this article, Shami came back exceptionally well in the second innings after bowling 18 wicket-less overs in the first innings.

Chasing a 395-run target, South Africa were expected to put on display a better fight on the last day of the match. Considering how well they had played in the first innings, not many had expected them to lost the first eight wickets for under 100 runs.
