Rohit Sharma screams: The Indian opening batsman didn’t want rain to play spoilsport with him nearing his century in Ranchi.

During the first day of the third Test of the ongoing South Africa’s tour of India in Ranchi, India opening batsman Rohit Sharma continued his golden run after being made the Test opener by scoring his sixth Test century and third of this series in as many matches.

Opening the batting with Mayank Agarwal (10), Sharma remained unperturbed India losing three wickets in the first session especially after captain Virat Kohli (12) won the toss and chose bat.

It was vice-captain Ajinkya Rahane’s arrival in the middle which saw a change in fortunes for the hosts as both him the Sharma started to dictate terms both before and after lunch on Day 1.

Rohit Sharma becomes only the second Indian opener to score 3 or more 100s in a Test series.

What makes this innings the best of three centuries that Sharma has scored in this series is the fact that he batted in times when the opposition bowlers were calling the shots especially with the new ball. Post surviving the initial battle, Sharma controlled his attacking instincts until Rahane eased some pressure off the batting unit.

When Sharma was batting on 95*, it had started to drizzle at the JSCA International Stadium Complex. Not wanting the weather to play spoilsport at such a crucial juncture, Sharma clearly expressed his disappointment.

Sharma completed his century on the fourth delivery of the 45th over in grand fashion as he cleared long-off off South Africa spinner Dane Piedt.
