Fabinho goal vs Man City: Liverpool take the lead under controversial circumstances
The high-octane match started with both teams playing high intensity football. In the 6th minute of the match however, Manchester City appealed for a Trent Alexander-Arnold handball. However, the referee waved the appeal and Liverpool were quick to continue the play.
The Reds carried the ball from the left and Sadio Mane attempted a low cross. The ball was then sent clear of the box but Fabinho ran onto it and blasted a beauty from 25 yards out!

The play went to VAR to check the legitimacy of the earlier attempt. However, VAR ruled in Liverpool’s favour stating that replays showed that the ball bounced into Alexander-Arnold’s arm off Bernardo Silva’s arm.
Typical of Liverpool’s season so far. Manchester City spend first five minutes attacking Liverpool’s goal, Alexander-Arnold handball outside natural silhouette not given as a penalty, Liverpool break from it and score past reserve goalkeeper. #LIVMCIhttps://t.co/fG10zknu2D pic.twitter.com/EOnqjgG6R0

Liverpool currently lead the match 2-0 after Mohammed Salah headed in a cross from Andy Robertson in the 13th minute of the match. City have an uphill task on hand at the moment. No team has beaten the Reds at Anfield for over a year. If Pep Guardiola’s side are to come back with 3 points, they will have to overturn the 2-goal deficit.
