Manchester United penalized by English FA after Liverpool defeat

Manchester United penalized by the English FA after they tried to rough up with the referee during the match against Liverpool.

Manchester United players were seen intimidating the referee Craig Pawson in their last match against Liverpool after a goal was awarded to the Reds even though David De Gea was fouled by Virgil Van Dijk in the buildup.

According to a report by the Skysports, Manchester United have been charged by the FA with failing to ensure their players “conducted themselves in an orderly fashion” during Sunday’s Premier League defeat at Liverpool.

It was an unwarranted reaction by Manchester United players after Roberto Firmino’s goal. The foul by Van Dijk would have anyway been spotted by the VAR since it was a very clear and obvious one.

The Dutch defender brought down De Gea on the floor while challenging for the ball, which Pawson did not entertain and the game continued. A poor clearance by Viktor Lindelof brought the ball to Sadio Mane.

Mane made an easy pass to Firmino and he finished with a sublime finish. But Manchester United players who felt that they conceded the goal wrongly charged on Pawson with aggression.

A quick look by the VAR brought the goal down immediately and the game continued with the previous score. A statement from the FA read: “Manchester United FC has been charged with a breach of FA Rule E20(a).”

“It is alleged that the club failed to ensure its players conducted themselves in an orderly fashion during the 26th minute of the Premier League fixture against Liverpool FC on Sunday (19/1/20).”

Now it is remained to be seen what Manchester United does by Thursday. Meanwhile, Manchester United lost the game, after conceding goals by Van Dijk and Mohamed Salah, now the Merseyside club is 16 points clear in the table.
