Lionel Messi provides sensational assist to Frenkie De Jong in the last night clash against Real Betis in La Liga; Barcelona won by 3-2.

Lionel Messi has been absent on score-sheet in recent few games but his presence has still been effective for Barcelona. Last night, Barcelona played a dramatic match against Real Betis.

The Catalans managed to earn a marginal win of 3-2 against the hosts and Messi gave 3 assists in all goals. But amidst all, the assist to Frenkie De Jong stands apart.

Barcelona conceded an early goal in the game, after giving a penalty to Sergio Canales, who successfully converted the spot-kick. But soon, they scored an equalizer credited to an impressive goal by De Jong.

The highly acclaimed Dutch midfielder slotted the ball into the path of Barcelona captain Messi before continuing his run into the Betis box.

The 32-year-old Argentine forward found De Jong with a sublime cross into the box and the ex-Ajax star brought the ball under control by his chest before slamming it into the net.

The equalizer brought the game back level and because of it, the drama got even more intense. Quique Setien’s men suffered another setback in the first half as Nabil Fekir stepped up from the edge of the box and buried a low shot past a helpless Ter Stegen.

But Barcelona managed to pull level before half-time through an unusual goal-scorer Sergio Busquets, who latched on to another lofted ball into the box from Messi.

Barcelona took the lead deep into the second half as Messi delivered a brilliant free-kick into the box and Clement Lenglet superbly headed the ball into the net.

Further, the game got little roughed up, as both teams were reduced to ten men, as Fakir and Lenglet picked red cards, but in the end, the Catalans managed to uphold their lead for last few seconds.
