Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is reportedly wanting Everton midfielder to replace Ander Herrera.

Manchester United are planning to bring in multiple faces to strengthen their squad and challenge for the Premier League title. The Red Devils started to produce scintillating results week in week out under their new manager, but the Norwegian is now struggling to find team’s mojo after losing so many crucial players to injuries.

Perhaps, Solskjaer does not have many options on the bench which forced him to stick with the same starting lineup. But, that was poor game management, nonetheless. As the permanent manager looks to tie some of their new players to a new deal, some players are not putting pen to paper because of the club’s refusal to meet their salary demands. One of them is the midfielder, Ander Herrera.

The Spanish International’s contract ends this summer and in a recent interview, midfielder declared his future is not yet resolved. Various sources quoted that the midfielder has a lucrative deal worth 200,000 pounds per week from Paris Saint Germain. This has prompted Solskjaer to look for his replacement.

The Red Devils have been linked with numerous players, and Solskjaer has added Everton midfielder Idrissa Gueye to his shortlist, say the English publication Evening Standard. The Everton midfielder was subjected to interest from Paris Saint Germain in January window, but Marco Silva denied to sell him at any cost.

The report adds that Gueye has emerged as a leading contender for the club, who has a contract until 2022. Anything amounting to 30 million pounds will be enough to seal his signature. Senegalese International has tons of experience with Everton and Aston Villa in the English top flight and fits the bills of Solskjaer.

The Red Devils will be looking to buy as many as five players in the summer transfer window, including right-back, center-back, two central midfielders, and right winger.

What’s next?

Manchester United will play West Ham United at Old Trafford on Saturday, followed by the second leg of the Champions League Quarterfinals against Barcelona in Nou Camp as Solskjaer’s men look to overturn a 1-0 deficit to progress to the next round.
